Will this process allow continuous data overlay for the full session? Or is there a way to get HLT to record every lap? One of the biggest reasons I prefer the GoPro is that it will continuously record the full session of multiple laps. Is there a way to do this job on a computer, PC or Mac? then sync the video with the data by using the end of lap as the sync point. Icohen424 wrote:From reading the instructions on the provided link, it sounds like I have to import the video from the GoPro onto my iPhone first.
Note that once I get this working, I'll be more than happy to share how I did it with others.Įven if HLT doesn't support this directly, I wonder if you can fool it by playing games with how the video's are stored, under the covers? Any advice or pointers on this would be very appreciated. If I can do this, to produce a video with HLT data overlaid, then I can import that and the secondary camera video into something like iMovie to create the picture in picture that will show how my footwork as well. What I would really like to be able to do is two things: first, I would like to be able to import the video from the primary GoPro (the one on the harness bar) and then overlay the LapTimer data on top of that. I'm not really interested in the camera angle that the iPhone will provide when mounted on the windshield. However, I have 2 GoPros, one mounted on my harness bar, so I can see where I'm going AND how I'm handling the car, and the other mounted to record my footwork. While I'm on the track, I want to have my iPhone mounted to the windshield so I can check my lap and sector times while I'm on the track. OK, kudos out of the way, here's my question. However, as a relative novice, Harrys LapTimer, with a couple of relatively inexpensive add ons (GPS and ODB II devices) gives me pretty much everything I need/want. I was looking into the various professional data acquisition systems, and was about to shell out $3000+ for Traqmate.

If Vidometer would take BLE or ANT+ speed, cadence, and HR sensor inputs, it would be just about the perfect all-in-one solution.First of all, since this is my first post on this forum, I have to say that even before I have used this software at the track (bought it the day *after* my first trip to Lime Rock Park), I am really impressed with what it can do. Not sure if that's the specific software used for the videos I saw (NOT Vidometer) or the phone itself. The picture gets fuzzy when the ride is bumpy. Unfortunately, from the videos I've seen, the iPhone camera doesn't deal with bumps and shakes as well as the GoPro. I believe the Hitcase iPhone case (Hitcase made Vidometer) has a wide-angle lens added. Basically, you ride, hit record, stop your ride, and the video is done.

The iPhone video isn't only more difficult to mount, but it doesn't provide a 170 degree view like a GoPro would.Īll that said.still one heck of an app for free and there is something pretty neat about not having to do any post-work. However, there isn't any Grade % information, which for a cyclist video I think adds some value and there is the trouble of attempting to do this with all one device. Also, I really like how they did the gauges. To me the actual Google Maps overlay looks a lot better than just the bare squiggly line for a map. I especially like the G-Force and Real-Time Mapping.
